Tuesday 26th August – Windsurf * The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny periods with some light rain.

Foil – 16.91 knot max, 13.92 knot ave., 4.48 knot hour, 14.88 knot mile, 14.83 km., 8.65 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.50.

I was hoping for a windsurf foil today as the forecast looked OK with 15 knots from the SW, so after giving a blood sample with all the old people at Felixstowe hospital I headed down to the Fludyers to take a couple of weather pics and was chuffed when Chris Page used one on About Anglia but the wind was very light! Home for breakfast, around 10.30 I did take my tailer down to The Manor to check things out but it continued to be light so home to do my exercises in a very warm back garden. At 1.30 the wind had increased so I hitched up again and returned to The Manor despite it approaching high water. I just managed to park in Squiz Lane and Al Wiz was out on his fin board with 7.5, just going but the sea was lumpy but I decided to give it a try which actually proved to be a big mistake! The wind was probably southerly and about 15 knots so my first long run out was good, then things went wrong with the wind swinging offshore pushing me down to the pier:( I did have one more long run back into a lumpy sea with a gusty wind before the wind eased back, in the end there was barely enough to move forward and I was lucky to get back to the beach near the pier which meant I had to walk a mile back to the van! By the time I had collected my gear I was knackered and was pleased to get home for a shower! Definitely the worst session of the year so far:(
